Slingshot Hip Hop Screening THIS Sunday!!

Hey ya'll,

After you rock out at the SJP concert this Friday, definitely come and chill with us and watch this fantastic documentary being shown in D.C. this Sunday!

See you all there!

SLINGSHOT HIP HOP screening & LEFT TURN issue release event
SUNDAY - Dec. 6, 2009 - 3-5 p.m.
DCAC
2348 18th St. NW
Washington D.C.
Slingshot Hip Hop braids together the stories of young Palestinians living in Gaza, the West Bank and inside Israel as they discover Hip Hop and employ it as a tool to surmount divisions imposed by occupation and poverty. From internal checkpoints and Separation Walls to gender norms and generational differences, Slingshot Hip Hop is about Palestinians crossing the borders that divide them and resisting the forces that oppress them.

We will al so be showing a slideshow of photos from a recent New Orleans people of color delegation to Gaza.

We will also have copies of the current issue, Left Turn #34: On the Move: Migrant Workers Organizing in Asia, which contains a number of articles about Palestine and Palestinians including photos from the New Orleans delegation to Gaza and AN interview with Jackie Salloum, director of Slingshot Hip Hop.

$5 donation to benefit Left Turn magazine!
