Diversity of Thought Panel: Unraveling Campus Tension

*Place: *Multipurpose Room, Nyumburu Cultural Center, University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742

“*Diversity of Thought: Unraveling Student Tension” *to discuss the causes, effects and solutions to the heated atmosphere on campus. It will highlight and explore the problems officials and students see on the campus and in the educational system as a whole.

The panel will feature Solomon Commisong, Assistant Director of Student Involvement at the Nyumburu Cultural Center; Aisha Braveboy, MD State Delegate; Angel Miles, Graduate Student and Professor of Women’ Studies; Jared Ball, Professor of Communication Studies at Morgan State and former green Party Presidential candidate; and Dr. Cordell Black, Associate Provost of Diversity and Equity at the University of Maryland

    I'm with the Worker's International League in DC. We've been working with some other groups in the area to organize a vigil for Palestine on Dec 30th, 5-7pm at the Chinatown Arch at Gallery Place. You may have already heard about it, but you can contact me if you're interested.

The Diamondback has published a series of advertisements paid for by a far-right think tank called FLAME (“Facts and Logic About the Middle East”) that whitewashes the documented human rights violations of Israel. These ads are anti-Arab, Islamophobic propaganda. One ad, published in the September 30 th , 2013 edition of the paper, begins by denying the existence of the Palestinian people—it characterizes all Arabs as a monolithic group of people with no cultural, historical, or linguistic distinctions. So, it follows, the Palestinian people don’t exist —therefore Israel really is a land without a people for a people without land.
